Struggling to lose weight? Sugary drinks are one of the major contributors to the obesity epidemic!

Two out of three adults and one out of three children in the United States are overweight or obese, and a significant amount of excess calories from sugar are consumed in the form of soft drinks.

The ingredients are listed in descending order, meaning there is more of the first ones you read… Look at the above picture, yes, you’re reading that right, it says you’re basically drinking syrup, with some added water…

When you drink this “liquid candy” you do not feel as full as if you had eaten the same calories from solid food which leads to eating an excess of calories.

Know the serving size!

Also, beware of fruit juices. Be sure that you buy juice that is 100% juice (to ensure you aren’t buying “juice flavored sugar water”, which is actually a soft drink in disguise) and look at the serving size. Many juices contain just as much sugar as a soft drink and the small amount of antioxidants do NOT negate the harmful effects of the sugar.
